Welcome to Malted Musings

First, an introduction. My name is Joe McPhee and I have been a craft beer enthusiast for over ten years. My first experience with non-fizzy yellow beer was an almost accidental taste of Guinness while at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. This quickly led to a compulsion to try everything that the (then somewhat limiting) Nova Scotia Liquor Commission had on offer. A later chance encounter withRateBeer.com while looking for more information about a particular beer from a Unibroue sample pack, and my immersion in the craft beer world was sealed. I’ve spent seven years living in Vancouver, Canada exploring the beer scene in the Pacific Northwest, and for the last three years, I’ve been exploring New York City and the beer scene here. This is the place where I will be writing about my beer-related travels, both locally around New York, and somewhat further afield as the opportunity arises.
